Alex Laliberte, originally from Cornwall, Ontario, completed his B.Sc and M.Sc at the University of Western Ontario in Cell and Molecular Biology. Alex is currently a PhD student in Michael Fehlings laboratory, investigating mechanisms of hypoxic neuroprotection in the injured spinal cord. The goal of this research is to better understand the molecular and epigenetic consequences of spinal cord injury and apply that knowledge to improve stem cell transplantation strategies.
Alex aspires to work in academia in the field of neuroscience research. In his free time, Alex is an avid participant in sports, particularly baseball, hockey and soccer.
